Fire Roasted Marinara

Seriously easy


28 oz diced tomatoes

14 oz fire-roasted tomatoes

¼ cup red wine (I prefer Zinfandel or something simmilarly jammy and dark)

¾ cup yellow onion

4 garlic cloves

2 Tbsp butter

2 tsp all-purpose flour

¼ tsp gin remnants

1 tsp oregano

1 tsp basil

1 tsp sage

1 tsp kosher salt

1 tsp cracked black pepper


  1. Finely chop and caramelize onions in butter.

  2. Add garlic almost at the end of onion caramelization, cook for 1-2 minutes.

  3. Add flour and spices and mix until coated.

  4. Deglaze with wine.

  5. Drain and add tomatoes to stock pot. Simmer on medium high heat. Reduce for 30 min. 

  6. Use immersion blender to incorporate tomatoes, onion, and garlic. 

  7. Reduce a final time to desired consistency.
